In August of 2010, Pritchard Engineering began construction phase testing of mass grading and related earthwork for the Southern Company IGCC power plant in Kemper County, Mississippi. Over a period of almost six (6) years, a team of qualified technicians and engineer interns working through a job site laboratory supported by our parent operation have provided testing, inspection, and observation of in excess of 2,000,000 cubic yards of earthwork, 1,200,000 tons of limestone base and subbase, 300,000 cubic yards of cast-in-place concrete and grout, and tons of reinforcing steel for the six billion dollar facility. Through the course of the project, our in house civil and geotechnical expertise provided enhanced prompt response to special needs of the design and construction team(s). Participation on this world class project has proven our capability to perform for the most demanding of Owner’s and constructors under the highest standards for quality control and safety. We continue to perform these services for Southern Company as “start up” approaches.
